Lets go to the hop!
Well, you can rock it you can roll it
You can stop and you can stroll it at the hop
When the record starts spinnin’
You chalypso when you chicken at the hop
Do the dance sensation that is sweepin’ the nation at the hop
Lets Go To The Hop, Danny and the Juniors, 1958
As a student of Fernie High School’s Class of ‘59, get ready to jive and twist the night away at the Fernie Museum’s Shake, Rattle and Roll Hop while raising funds for a good cause.
On your way into the hop, stop by the Student Office to pick up your report card and new cafeteria pass before indulging in 2 specialty cocktails and a deluxe 1950s diner dinner (includes appies, dinner, dessert and soda shop floats). Dinner is followed by a special production of Canadian Bandstand with the Mad Cat Dancer Company and special musical guests Peter and the Wolves. The bar will serve a selection of wine, beer and spirits.
Help raise funds for a new “Fernie High gymnasium” by bidding on artwork, unique experiences and a range of goods and services in our Live and Silent Auction.
We would like to thank the Park Place Lodge, Fernie Scotiabank, Patti’s Tent Rentals, and Rockies Law Corporation for their generous support of this year’s event.

PETER AND THE WOLVES
Party like it’s 1959! The Canadian Bandstand Show at the Shake, Rattle and Roll Hop will be headlined by Peter and the Wolves, a fresh-faced rockabilly outfit from Calgary shaped by their forefathers’ rowdy, unstoppable urge to shake it up.
Led by Howlin’ Pete Cormier, the Wolves were playing the bar scene while half its members were still in high school. Pete flashed his guitar and lady-killer good looks, as Theo dug deep into his stand-up and Paul cranked out soul-scorching keyboard solos. Elvis, Eddy Cochrane and CCR were mixed in with House of the Rising Son and Rock Lobster. Sweat dripped from their brow and soaked their sharkskin suits; they pulverized the room and left them panting for more.
MAD CAT DANCE COMPANY
No episode of Canadian Bandstand would be complete without a performance of the latest dance moves to the top 10 ditties. And there is no better group to get us up and jiving, twisting and jittering than the Mad Cat Dancers. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Mad Cat Swing is renowned for busting the floor and getting people up and dancing!
